Gumstix' research and development plans for the Overo product line include:

• An expansion board for GPS location positioning with accelerometer, 4.3" LCD screen connector and more functions.
  
• An expansion board to support a 7" LCD screen.
• An expansion board with a camera to connect to the 27-pin connector located on the top of each Overo COM.
• Overo products built with extended temperature components: target of -40C < t < 85C. (please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you are interested).
• Plus additional Gumstix products that leverage the high function and low power of the OMAP processor on each Overo COM.

Note: In order to know what function is shipping on any particular Gumstix product, a design engineer should review the "Features" information as presented on the product page at www.gumstix.com rather than depending upon the function designed into the schematic posted in pubs.gumstix.com. Gumstix makes this recommendation because function designed on to a Gumstix board (as per schematic) may not be populated during the build process.

 

Gumstix recently released the following expansion boards for the Overo series:

• Stagecoach: An expansion board on which seven ((7) Overo COMs can be mounted and connected via 100Mbps switched Fast Ethernet.
• Chestnut43: Combined 10/100baseT Ethernet and LCD-ready expansion board - to bring together the function of today's Tobi and Palo boards.
• Tobi-Duo: Dual Ethernet expansion board - ideal for Gumstix Overo-based appliances.
• Palo35: Expansion board for a 3.5" LCD screen
• Pinto-TH: A breakout board for product development.
• Thumbo: a USB-powered expansion board for the Overo Earth COM and Overo Water COM.

Note that each expansion board can be used with any of the Overo COM modules except for Thumbo, which can only power the Overo Earth COM and Overo Water COM.
