Verdex Pro Feature Overview sheet
The feature overview sheet for Verdex Pro may be found here.
Introduction
Introduced by Gumstix in Q3, 2008, the PXA270-based verdex pro product line addresses a number of issues including the recent discontinuance by Molex of their 120-pin connector that Gumstix uses in the verdex product line.
verdex pro uses the same 60-pin expansion boards as the verdex line, but introduces an 80-pn expansion board called netpro-vx for the other side.
A key addition to verdex pro over verdex has been on-board storage via a microSD card slot.
Recommendation from Gumstix, Inc.
Gumstix recommends that OEM customers change plans for verdex-based products to incorporate the verdex pro product line instead of the verdex product line. A move to verdex pro is intended to allow Gumstix to meet future volume requirements.
A Phasing Out notice has been posted here for the verdex (not verdex pro) product line.
September 2008 Update:
As of September 2008, Gumstix has introduced the verdex pro product line to replace the verdex product line in OEM projects.
The "verdex pro" product line, based on the Marvel PXA 270 wtih XScale processor, addresses a number of issues including the recent discontinuance by Molex of their 120-pin connector that Gumstix uses in the verdex product line.
Gumstix recommends that all customers designing an OEM product use the verdex pro product line rather than the verdex product line.
