|
Michael Kenney is a Software Engineer at the University of
Washington Applied Physics Lab. He primarily develops software for
oceanographic instrumentation.
Michael has 20+ years experience with Unix and nearly 15 years with
Linux (he started using Linux when it was available on two floppies
;-). His "formal" education is in Ocean Engineering.
What started your interest in gumstix technology?
I was investigating low-power embedded-Linux boards to replace an old
Motorola 68332-based board that we have been using in various
autonomous float projects.
What current projects are you working on?
A mooring that will be deployed off of Hawaii in late 2009.
What gumstix products are you using in the project?
The verdex product line.
Why is gumstix technology the best solution for the project?
Linux-based, reasonably low power consumption, and a nice development
environment -- especially now that you have moved to Open Embedded.
What projects do you have planned for the future?
Too many ;-)
Will gumstix technology be part of your future plans?
Quite possibly.
Why?
For the same reasons listed above.
